Bengaluru: Microsoft founder Bill Gates has heaped praise on a postmaster in the city, calling her "an incredible force for change".

The billionaire had visited an urban neighbourhood in Bengaluru's Halasuru during a recent trip to India and praised the banking company's digitalisation for its ability to reach the underprivileged.

"In Bengaluru, I visited the urban community of Halasuru to learn about how digital banking can help reach poor and underserved communities. It was interesting to see how postal workers are now bringing banking services directly to doorsteps through @IPPBOnline," he had posted soon after his visit in March.

In a recent post, Gates again took to his LinkedIn account and mentioned Kusuma K, a postmaster with India Posts Payments Bank saying, “I met an incredible force for change on my trip to India: Kusuma, a remarkable young woman working wonders at her local postal department."

Further he wrote, “India has been a leader in developing digital public infrastructure to accelerate inclusive financial development — enabling branch postmasters, like Kusuma, to use smartphone devices and biometrics to offer banking services to customers across India. She’s not just providing integrated financial services; she’s delivering hope and financial empowerment to her community."

Gates also shared a video link in the LinkedIn post which leads to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation page where a video explains about Kusuma and her work.

“Learn more about the work Kusuma is doing here: https://b-gat.es/3OJlI9L #G20India,” he wrote.
