Ayanur Manjunath to join Congress today

Shivamogga / Bengaluru: J D(S) leader Ayanur Manjunath confirmed the rumours that he would join the Congress on Thursday.

He made the statement in a press conference he held in Shivamogga on Wednesday. Earlier, he had expressed a desire to contest MLC elections from Congress.

On Sunday, he also met Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar at the latter’s residence in Sadashiva Nagar in Bengaluru.

Congress on its part said that “senior leaders from other parties” would be joining them on Thursday morning. Manjunath added he wanted to join Congress before the Assembly election but couldn’t and now that opportunity presented itself, he would.
