The library has no substitute'

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In the modern era, there is a clear line between necessity and luxury.

Easy access to information with costly gadgets is widely available across the world these days. In spite of that, some stones are unturned for some classes of society so far.

Here the differentiation comes with necessity. The word ‘necessity’ itself is worthy to the impoverished strata even at this point in time.

Education is one of the integral parts of life. The basic education right has been enshrined in the Constitution itself. In 2002, the Constitution of India was amended with its 86th amendment, it was established that basic education is compulsory under Article 21-A as a fundamental right in Part III of the Constitution of India.

To combat all future adversities, libraries are necessary, which eventually help upcoming generations. Karnataka State Library Association made an appeal to the state government to open multiple libraries across the city and state.

Deputy CM, DK Shivakumar asked for suggestions to build libraries across the state with proper plans to make Brand Karnataka. News Trail visited Central City Library, located in R T Nagar, to learn more about the library's relevance while the information is easily available beyond basic education.

The Central City Library Account Director Basavraj shared his view and said, “The library has its own ambiance, which has no competition at all.”

When he was asked about the digital era, he responded, “Not everyone can afford costly digital gadgets to study, so libraries are the fittest place for them as well as for others.”

Researchers also come to study in depth through physical books at the library, he added.

To portray the calm ambiance, the director said that the ambiance does matter a lot for one to study, while a number of impoverished students can easily access the library without subscribing to any highpaying e-books or applications
