Bengaluru: A 63-year-old realtor died under suspicious circumstances after he fell from the fourth floor of a building where he had allegedly come to meet his second wife the previous day in the city.

The deceased was identified as Maranjanappa, a real estate businessman. He was also a JD(S) functionary of the Mallasandra ward in the Dasarahalli Assembly constituency.

The incident took place around 2:45 am on Thursday when he was at his second wife, Geetha's residence in Mallathahalli, MPM Layout in Bengaluru.

Sources from the police said that the deceased's first wife, Umadevi, has filed a complaint with the Amruthahalli Police Station alleging Geetha's role in the realtor's death.

In her complaint, Umadevi alleged that Maranjanappa was in an illicit relationship with Geetha, who claimed to be a social worker.

"My husband went to her house around 10 pm on Wednesday. In the early hours of Thursday, we were informed that he had been admitted to a hospital," she said in her statement to the police.

Umadevi also claimed that there were a few bite marks and injuries on Maranjanappa's body when her family inspected it.

Later, Geetha went missing, raising suspicion on her. The police said that the initial probe indicated it to be an accidental death. They also suspected property disputes in the matter.

However, more details are awaited as the investigation is underway. An FIR has been registered by the police based on the complaint filed by Umadevi.
