Gurugram/Mewat: A Muslim man from Nuh tehsil of Mewat district was found dead near Gurugram in Haryana, making his kin suspect that the death might have been the result of foul play.
Relatives of the victim said that it was likely that the deceased had been lynched by right-wing extremist elements in the wake of communal violence in Nuh this past month.
Abdul Razzak, a resident of Tapkan village, had reportedly been to Gurugram in his luggage auto to sell goats Thursday night. He is said to have been murdered on his way back to his village.
Family members of the deceased filed an FIR at Sadar Police Station in Gurugram. The victim’s nephew Moinuddin, who also lives in Tapkan, told Bharat TV that they found the body on Friday.
“That night (Thursday), he (Abdul Razzak) traveled to Gurugram from the village with the goats, which he sold by 9 at night. We know this because he spoke to a merchant around 9 pm to talk about rent (of the vehicle). After 9, we didn’t get any phone call from him. In the morning, the same merchant came to us and said he’d wanted to send another round of goods and wanted the vehicle (luggage auto) back. Then we tried calling him (Abdul Razzak) but his phone was switched off,” he said.
“We called a few people to ask if they had seen him (Abdul Razzak). A man from our village told us that he had seen the vehicle (that the victim drove) to the left of Hero Honda Chowk near the marble market.
Around eight to 10 of us went there and saw the tempo abandoned on the spot. We found the body of my uncle Razzak about 100 to 150 feet away from the vehicle. We suspect that somebody has killed him. We expect the administration to support us and ensure the guilty are arrested,” Moinuddin added.
