Abhimanyu to once again carry Golden Howdah

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Nine Dasara elephants arrived in the city on Friday through Gajapayana with Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre confirming that Abhimanyu, the same elephant that carried the golden howdah in the previous year’s celebration, would do it again this year.

Speaking to the media during the launch of Gaja Yatra, Minister Khandre said the arrival of the jumbos marks the commencement of the Dasara festivities.

The minister disclosed that five more elephants would join the procession at the palace after five days. The elephants participating in Gajapayana will stay at Aranya Bhavan in Mysuru for four days before proceeding to the Mysuru Palace.

The Dasara jumbos will undergo training for one-and-a-half months. Abhimanyu was also an integral part of the Gaja Yatra team.
