Bengaluru: Kalaburagi Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) and Information Technology and Bio-Technology (IT-BT) Priyank Kharge on Friday disclosed that of the 1.3 crore women who had been enlisted as beneficiaries under the Gruha Lakshmi Yojane, 30 lakh had done so in Bapuji Seva Kendras (BSK) in villages.
The concept of the BSK was implemented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in 2016 during his first term so as to deliver services from the RDPR department to the rural hinterland.
Under the Gruha Lakshmi Yojane, women can register and then avail Rs 2,000 monthly as allowance. However, women whose spouses pay income tax don’t qualify.
“More than 30 lakh beneficiaries have registered themselves for the Gruhalakshmi Yojana at Bapuji Seva Kendras,” Priyank said in his “August work report.”
