Summons to HD Revanna through Vidhana Sabha Secretariat
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The High Court of Karnataka issued summons to Holenarasipura MLA and JDS leader, HD Revanna, through the Legislative Assembly Secretariat on Monday.
This action was taken in response to an Election Petition filed by the defeated BJP candidate, Devarajegowda, who alleged election malpractice in the recent Assembly Election.
Devarajegowda additionally claimed that the Congress candidate, Shreyas Patel, who came second, had induced voters with bribes, and therefore, the votes received by both candidates should be invalidated.
The High Court had previously issued summons in this petition on August 2, but they had not been served on Revanna.
Consequently, the High Court ordered that the summons be served through the Assembly Secretariat.
Justice Jyoti Mulimani adjourned the hearing to September 25.
In the recent election, Revanna garnered 88,103 votes, while Shreyas Patel secured over 84,951 votes, and Gowda received 4,850 votes.
