Bengaluru: In a significant breakthrough in a theft case reported at Pulakeshinagar police station, the city police successfully recovered valuables worth Rs 1.5 crore that had been recently stolen from an apartment in the city.
However, shockingly, the stolen valuables were found in the very house of one of the suspects, who allegedly committed suicide during the course of the investigation.
The owner of the apartment, a woman employed at a multi-national company in Bengaluru, had filed a theft complaint at the Pulikeshinagar Police Station, alleging that valuables worth Rs 2.5 crore were stolen from her house on August 17.
The domestic help staff and a driver were reportedly the main suspects in the case and were questioned by the police.
However, on August 21, the driver, identified as Jeevan Vergese, was found dead in a room in the same apartment. Subsequently, the police discovered a death note allegedly written by Vergese in Malayalam.
In the note, he accused his employer and the police of harassing him over the theft case. As a result, a case of abetment to suicide was filed against the employer.
