Karnataka Governor highlights role of sports in nation-building

Bengaluru: Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Thursday emphasised the pivotal role of sports in bolstering a nation's identity and global standing.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Yonex-Sunrise 46th InterState, Inter-Zonal, and Junior National Badminton Championship 2023, organised by the Karnataka Badminton Organisation, Governor Gehlot under - scored the transformative power of sports.

He said that sports can help to develop physical and mental health, build character, and instil discipline. He also pointed out that sports can help to promote teamwork and sportsmanship.

Governor Gehlot called on the youth to take up sports and make it a part of their daily lives. He said that sports can help to build a better future for the nation.

The event was attended by Minister Santhosh Lad, Karnataka Olympic Association President and Legislative Council Member K Govindaraj, Karnataka Badminton Association President Manoj Kumar, and Indian Badminton Association Joint Secretary Umar Rashid.
