Priyank remains adamant on religion remark
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) and Information Technology and Bio-Technology (IT-BT) Priyank Kharge continued to remain unapologetic on his comments on the Sanatana Dharma controversy, adding that he hadn’t mentioned any faith and that he merely said the Constitution was his religion.
The row erupted on September 2 when Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Satlin likened Sanatana Dharma to “dengue, malaria and corona” to be eradicated.
When asked to comment on the controversy, Kharge had replied that any religion that denied humans dignity was as good as a disease. Since then, an FIR has been filed against Priyank and Udhayanidhi in UP.
“For me, the Constitution is my religion,” Kharge said.
“Any religion that discriminates between fellow human beings, that does not preach equality, does not preach social justice is not a religion,” he added.
