CCB raids unearth tobacco and juvenile law violations

Bengaluru: In a late-night operation, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) conducted raids on pubs, bars, restaurants, and hookah bars across various parts of the city, including Koramangala, Indiranagar, HSR Layout, Banasawadi, and Hennur.

The raids revealed numerous violations of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, the Juvenile Justice Act, and the Excise Rules.

The establishments were found allowing smoking on their premises and serving alcohol to minors. In one case, minors even claimed affiliations with local politicians and TV personalities when confronted by the police.

Cases have been registered against pub owners for these violations. The crackdown is in response to concerns from college principals about students frequenting such venues, emphasising law enforcement's commitment to protecting minors in entertainment establishments.
