Heptamologist's 'X' account 'The LiverDoc' suspended by court

Bengaluru: Cyriac Abby Phillips, an Heptamologist and the man who is known for debunking substandard medical practices on social media has come under duress, after the Bengaluru Civil Court ordered his account to be suspended after a defamation suit was filed against him.

According to a complaint, Phillips, who was using the 'X' account handle namely @theliverdr is accused of posting derogatory statements against products connected to Himalaya Wellness Corporation, which allegedly resulted in huge business losses.

The ex-parte injunction order was passed, after the Corporation had filed a suit against Phillips, alleging defamation. Phillips, who hails from Kerala, is known to reject notions and methods of home remedies.

He has also debunked alternative medicines like Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy.

However netizens were in splits by this decision, as some started hashtags of #BringBackTheLiverDoc and were not happy with the Court order. While a few hailed the decision, others claimed that Phillips peddles false and baseless claims.
