Bengaluru: After the recent traffic congestion witnessed in the city, a popular hangout destination just outside Bengaluru, Nandi Betta, was jam-packed as a result of a huge number of visitors and vehicles approaching the place for the weekend getaway.

Situated about 60 kilometres away from here, the popular hill fortress is easily the nearest tourist destination for the youth, especially techies of the country’s IT capital.

A video has emerged, revealing the extent of the tourist spot’s admiration. That this was marked with a chaotic traffic condition all along the mountainous roads quite marred the narrative on Sunday.

Hundreds of people were stuck on the winding mountain road after their vehicles were brought to a standstill due to the sheer volume of traffic that extended up to one kilometre, sources from the spot said.

The spot known for its scenic beauty and historical significance often witnesses traffic congestion on weekends because of which the Karnataka government had earlier this year taken a decision to prohibit private and personal vehicles from entering Nandi Hills.

The state tourism department is working to provide the viable option of a cable car ride for travellers to relish the picturesque surroundings and explore the place in peace.
