Bengaluru: An employee of a factory staged his own kidnapping to extort money from his employer, but was caught by the police during the investigation. Nurullah Hussain, a native of Bihar, was working in the factory of Mohammad Asif Habib, a resident of RT Nagar in Bengaluru.
It is said that the owner used to take care of Hussain well. Taking advantage of the kindness, Nurullah allegedly faked his own kidnap with the help of his friends Abubakar and Ali Reza to extort money from the factory owner.
According to the police, the accused went to Mandya along with his friends and claimed that some people had forcefully taken him in a car. Nurullah contacted the owner Habib over a phone call and claimed that he had been kidnapped.
He also said that kidnappers were demanding Rs 2 lakh as ransom for his release. The owner Habib approached the police immediately and was ready to pay Rs 2 lakh.
Making another call, the accused asked to deposit the money into Nurullah's bank account. Suspecting something amiss, the police and Habib traced the accused’s mobile phone and they were found to be in Mandya.
The RT Nagar police arrested three people with the cooperation of Mandya police. The fake kidnapping came to light during the interrogation.
