Bengaluru: Activists of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on Monday, staged a protest in the city's Freedom Park demanding that the government increase the 2B reservation from 4% to 8%.

They also wanted the Kantharaj Commission report on the caste survey to be made public as early as possible. Abdul Majeed SDPI State president spoke to News Trail and said that "The Kantharaj committee report and 2B reservation are interlinked. This report says the minority community in Karnataka is economically and educationally backward. The solution is to give the community at least 8% reservation."

The government had spent a total of Rs 187 crores to conduct the survey. "Now that the Siddaramaiah-led Congress is back in power, the government should take the above proposals into consideration quickly,'' he said.
