Bengaluru: A Bengalur ubased transport firm employee who had performed the last rites of his deceased mother recently, was shocked to find that his mother was murdered by his wife herself who was having an affair with another man.

The prime accused was identified as Rashmi, wife of Manjunath. Lakshmamma, 54, a resident of Byadarahalli in Bengaluru died suddenly on October 5.

Rashmi, who was at home, allegedly informed her husband that his mother had passed away following breathlessness. The couple conducted the last rites at their hometown near Kunigal.

Nine days after the death, Manjunath came to know that his wife, Rashmi, was having an illicit relationship with a person named Akshay, and the duo had strangled Lakshmamma to death.

In his complaint, Manjunath stated that his wife often used to fight with her motherin-law on family and finance-related issues.

"Rashmi allegedly laced Lakshmamma's food with poison. When she fell unconscious, Rashmi, with the help of Akshay and his friend, Purushottam, strangled her to death," the complaint stated.
