CM: Don't use chemical-mixed items for Soudha rituals
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday called upon persons who undertake rituals and rites on Ayudha Pooja day to take care to not use chemical induced substances in Vidhana Soudha and Vikas Soudha so as to protect the heritage buildings.
The chief minister pointed out that this directive was quite old, adding that harmful chemicals leave a mark that lasts a long time. The CM was referring in particular to turmeric with artificial colouring.
“An order has been issued to people to not use chemical-induced turmeric, saffron and other colours in Vidhana Soudha, Vikas Soudha and other multistoried heritage buildings, be it in offices and corridors in the context of Ayudha Pooja. This is not a new direction. Since these are heritage buildings, we have been following the same tradition as earlier governments in asking people to avoid using harmful chemicals and the damage they cause because they leave behind a stain for a long time,” Siddaramaiah said.
