FIR against another hotel for providing poor quality food to policemen

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: An FIR has been registered at the Cubbon Park police station against a private hotel in the city for allegedly serving sub-standard food to policemen deployed for the security during the recent World Cup cricket match at Chinnaswamy Stadium here.

The action was taken after worms were found in the cheese offered to the police personnel. The matter was brought to the notice of the senior police official following which an NCR (non-serious case) was registered on the charge of serving unhygienic food against Sharda Catering of Gayatri Vihar.

A police officer said that an FIR has been registered as per the instructions of the court and the investigation is continuing. Around 970 police personnel were deployed around the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru where the World Cup Cricket match between Australia and Pakistan teams was being played.

The management board of the stadium, which had arranged food for the police on duty, entrusted the responsibility of food supply to an event management organization.

Last month, a food joint was booked after a personnel found a dead rat in his food packet. The personnel was among those deployed to maintain law and order in Bengaluru during the bandh called by various pro-Kannada organisations protesting against releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.

Previously Vidyaranyapura police had registered a case against the manager of a hotel on Hesaraghatta Main Road for allegedly supplying sub-standard food for the police personnel who were on bandobast duty for Ganesha idol immersion procession.
