Bengaluru: Bengaluru frequently graces the headlines, often for its notorious traffic jams, housing woes, delectable cuisine, or pleasant climate.
However, this time, the city made news as reports emerged of a leopard spotted roaming in the city on a Saturday. The leopard was sighted in Bengaluru's Whitefield area and was captured on a CCTV camera.
A post about it was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a page known as Whitefield Rising. The post stated, "Leopard back in Whitefield. Hope the leopard is safely captured."
Social media reports indicated that the leopard had been spotted in Brookfield and Kudlu Gate, near HSR Extension, and was seen near a prominent private school in the vicinity.
Forest authorities have launched efforts to locate the leopard, and residents have been cautioned to remain vigilant and avoid venturing out at night.
SS Lingaraju, Bengaluru's Chief Conservator of Forests, mentioned that they conducted a search in the area over the past two days but found no evidence of a leopard's presence.
This isn't the first instance of leopard sightings in Bengaluru. In February of this year, a leopard ventured into the city's outskirts and killed a calf near an agricultural field in Dasanapura off Tumakuru Road.
Reports indicate that a total of four leopards were seen in and round the city in December 2022 as well.
