Traffic cops clearing waterlogging; BBMP you there?

Following heavy rains, water-logging is a common issue witnessed in several areas in the city which also causes traffic disruptions and congestion.

Normally it is the responsibility of the civic agencies to clear out clogging drains. However, in Bengaluru, the traffic policemen have taken up this responsibility and are playing good samaritans, earning huge respect from the citizens in the process.

However, a similar incident took place on Wednesday in Nagawara Circle, as the junction witnessed traffic congestion after last week's rainfall, resulting in clogged drainage on the main road.

"The waterlogged roads had been causing huge traffic snarls, especially during the peak hours," said a traffic police officer while trying to clear the water.

The officer also pointed out that the public always blames the traffic policemen whenever there is congestion or if the traffic comes to a halt, irrespective of the reason.

"Whenever it rains here, this junction gets jammed with water, and we step forward to clear it. However, it is, without a doubt, a temporary fix," the officer said.
