Bengaluru: Two students were fined Rs 500 each and slapped with cases under Section 59 of the Metro Act for blinding a CCTV camera installed inside a Namma Metro train and pulling off the stickers.

Sources from the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Thursday said that the incident had taken place on November 8 when five students of Class 10 were travelling in a Metro train from Konanakunte to Jayanagar.

"Two of the students tore up stickers and stuck it on a CCTV camera. The issue came to light during maintenance after the Metro service for the day had ceased," sources informed.

The students were traced based on footage from other CCTV cameras and were confronted by the BMRCL security staff the next day at the Jayanagar Metro station.

After the students admitted to their act, the principal of their school and also their parents were informed by the BMRCL officials. Earlier, the BMRCL had penalised a youth after he was caught doing a backflip exercise while holding onto the handles inside a metro train.

A few weeks ago, a man was caught having Gobi Manchurian while travelling in a metro train and was penalised by the officials.
