Kolar suicide row: DC hands over Rs 4.12 lakh cheque to Srinivas' wife
Kolar, NT Bureau: The district administration has initiated measures to compensate Ramya Srinivas, widow of Srinivas from Huralagere village in Malur taluk.
Srinivas took his own life on September 23, feeling humiliated after being assaulted by upper caste individuals. On Saturday, Kolar Deputy Commissioner Akram Pasha handed over a Rs. 4.12 lakh cheque to Ramya, citing provisions of the SC/ST Atrocity Act.
Another installment awaits submission of the charge sheet to the court. Stressing the prevention of bail for the arrested individuals, Pasha mentioned the district administration's consideration of providing government support to Ramya, acknowledging the hardships she has faced since her husband's tragic suicide.
Srinivas's death followed an altercation where he allegedly made derogatory remarks, resulting in arrests, including his friend Ramesh and the involved woman.
