Bengaluru: Chaitra, accused of defrauding businessman Govinda Babu Poojary of Rs 5 crore with the promise of securing him a B J P ticket for the Assembly elections held in May this year, has reportedly confessed to her involvement in the scam during the CCB inquiry.

During interrogation, Chaitra revealed that she first met Abhinava Halashri in 2018. Chaitra claimed that she had connections within the BJP and that Abhinava Halashri had successfully secured tickets for six out of ten aspiring candidates.

He further promised to get tickets for four more individuals and requested Chaitra to inform him if she knew of any potential aspirants.

Chaitra informed the CCB that she had been introduced to businessman Govinda Babu Poojary, a BJP ticket aspirant from Byndoor, through Prasad Byndur.

She then collaborated with Gagan to deceive Govinda Babu Poojary. Ramesh and Dhanraj decided to pose as central BJP leaders and rehearsed their act for three hours.

On July 4, 2022, Gagan summoned Govinda Babu Poojary to a guest house in Chikkamagaluru and introduced Dhanraj and Ramesh as close associates of the Prime Minister and Home Minister.

During the initial meeting, Gagan demanded a sum of Rs 50 lakh.
