BBMP to initiate 'Go Green Campaign'

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a virtual meeting on Wednesday, Subash B. Adi, Chairman of the Implementation Committee for Solid Waste Management directed the officials of the Solid Waste Management department of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBPM) to kickstart the ‘Go Green Campaign.’

In a move to make the city ‘clean and green,’ Subash advised retired high court justices and Upa Lokayuktas to raise awareness about the campaign.

The meeting also agreed to enforce the procedures prescribed in the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, like complete ban on single use plastic, dumping of construction debris on footpaths and promoting fuel conservation.

It was observed that around 5,500 metric tons of waste is produced in different varieties. The chairman advised the officials to address waste management issues seriously.
