Yettinahole project in next 3 yrs, promises Siddu

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday set his State government the ambitious task of completing the Yettinahole project in the next three years.

He added that areas such as Bengaluru Rural that had been suffering from scarcity of water would get Yettinahole water.

The long pending Yettinahole Integrated Drinking Water Project (YIDWP) has been criticized for displacing tribal populations and ecological damage in the Western Ghats.

The CM made the comments at the inauguration of the Bireshwar Swamy Community and Prayer Hall in Nelamangala town in Bengaluru Rural district on Sunday.

“There is a demand for additional drinking water in Nelamangala town. The vrushabhavathi scheme should be completed under which lakes around Nelamangala would be rejuvenated. This project will also increase the water table level,” Siddaramaiah said.

He added that he was also inspecting the possibility of extending the Metro up to Nelamanagala. Bengaluru Metro’s Green Line’s last stop in the north is Nagasandra.

Shivakumar, who is also the Water Resources Minister, had visited the Hebbannahalli power station and Doddanagar pump house in Sakleshpur back in August and promised water from the project in the “next 100 days.”
