Woman gives birth in ambulance

Gudibande, NT Bureau: A 28-year-old woman gave birth to a female baby in an ambulance en route to hospital here and both the baby and mother are healthy at the district hospital in Chikkaballapura.

Twenty-eight-year old Narasamma, resident of Ullodu in Gudibande taluk got admitted to the taluk hospital in Gudibande early Thursday morning. However doctors referred her to the district hospital in Chikkaballapura in an ambulance.

As the ambulance was about to reach Chikkaballapur, the woman complained of severe pain.

Shanthi, the nurse accompanying her found that she was about to deliver and made all arrangements in the ambulance itself for safe delivery of the baby.

Within minutes, Narasamma gave birth to a female baby weighing around three kilograms. Shanthi said the expected date of delivery was the 17th of this month and the delivery happened three days ahead of time.
