Bengaluru: Appointments to the posts of chairpersons of Boards and Corporations are back in the news as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar would be flying to New Delhi to finalize names.
Shivakumar confirmed that the visit would indeed be happening in the near future. Meanwhile, it is being whispered that the visit would happen as soon as Monday.
A day prior, the Deputy CM had said that the appointments would happen in about a week. Speaking to mediapersons at the Bengaluru residence of All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge, he confirmed the news.
“We have not been summoned by the Delhi leaders. We are going to Delhi ourselves in order to get a seal of approval on the final list of appointments to Boards and Corporations that we had shared some time back,” Shivakumar said.
There appears to be stiff competition for the plum posts between the supporters of Mallikarjun Kharge, Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah for the posts.
There are 90 boards and among them, chairmanship of 30 is sought after. Boards associated with commerce, industries and water resources are regarded as plum posts.
Among the prominent ones are Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL) which manufactures the famous Mysore Sandal Soap, Karnataka Jungle Lodges and Resorts (KJLR), Karnataka Urban Water Supply Drainage Board (KUWSDB), Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) and Karnataka State Small Industries Development Corporation.
