Mysuru: KPCC spokesperson M Lakshmana on Sunday condemned BJP leaders for politicising the issue of naming Mysuru Airport.
Speaking to reporters, he said the then government headed by CM Siddaramaiah had recommended to the union government to name Mysuru Airport after Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar during his previous tenure in 2015.
Siddaramaiah had also written a letter to the Union government, he said “Hubballi Central Congress MLA Prasad Abbaiah has issued his individual statement suggesting naming Mysuru airport after Tipu Sultan, but it’s not a view of the Congress party or Congress government. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM D K Shivakumar or district minister HC Mahadevappa have not issued any statement", he asserted.
He condemned the BJP leaders for not naming the airport after Mysuru Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar even during their previous tenure as his name was already finalized and recommended to the union government eight years ago by then CM Siddaramaiah.
The Congress spokesperson also criticized the BJP for increasing atrocities against women in all BJP ruled states.
He said the Congress government has taken the Belagavi woman parading incident seriously, and has initiated all measures to bring the culprits to book.
