Bengaluru: A Kannada directorproducer has registered a complaint against a self-proclaimed godman for cheating him of Rs 4.32 lakh in the city.
Ravikiran, who also is an actor, is a resident of Kumaraswamy Layout in Bengaluru.
In his complaint, he alleged that he met Naveen Bhagyashree Guruji two years ago.
The godman, who runs an orphanage, allegedly asked Ravikiran to help and the latter transferred Rs 2,000 through Google Pay as a donation.
Later Guruji befriended the actor and asked him to attend an event in Dubai as chief guest and promised that all arrangements will be made.
Believing the godman, Ravikiran initially paid Rs 25,000 for an air ticket and later sent more money towards travel expenses.
Allegedly the godman then began taking more money from Ravikiran in the name of site, property and gold.
The godman convinced Ravikiran that he has a friend in Dubai and that he would get him gold at a very low price, and took Rs 1.27 lakh on two different occasions.
Guruji allegedly took more money from Ravikiran assuring that he would get him a site on Airport Road. When the actor did not find the site, he realised he had been duped.
Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against three persons at the Kumaraswamy Layout Police Station.
