Law student commits suicide over dowry harassment

Mysuru, NT Bureau: Upset over a dowry demand from a man she was engaged with, a seventh semester law student committed suicide by hanging herself at her hostel in Kuvempunagar police station limits in the city on Tuesday.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Kavisha (21) who hailed from.Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu.

The girl was in love with Ooty-based Kiran. The parents of the girl fixed the marriage with Kiran after they came to know about their affair.

After the betrothal ceremony, Kiran has been accused of demanding a car and gold as dowry and allegedly threatened to stop the marriage it was not given by her parents.

Upset over this, the woman committed suicide at her hostel. She was pursuing law studies at JSS Law College.

Based on a complaint filed by the girl's parents, Kuvempunagar Police have registered a case against Kiran, his parents Sethumadhav and Latha. An investigation is underway..
