The Karnataka Health Department, on high alert, is implementing precautionary measures and conducting extensive meetings.
Amidst the backdrop of New Year celebrations, anxiety prevails, and BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath notes the absence of specific guidelines for New Year festivities in Bengaluru.

However, Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath reassures that there has been no increase in Covid cases within BBMP, leading to the decision not to impose restrictions on New Year celebrations.
The BBMP is actively monitoring Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) cases within its jurisdiction.
The State Health De par tment has sought information regarding COVID preparations at BBMP's primary health centres, and the corporation has directed these centres to make necessary preparations.
BBMP is taking proactive measures by conducting meetings with health officials to address Covid-related concerns. In addition, the health department is closely monitoring international travellers, with Bandrey prepared to send samples for RT-PCR testing, particularly for those testing positive.
The department oversees passengers entering the state and has mandated the submission of the genetic sequence of international travellers with increased CT values.
Recognising the need to ramp up COVID testing, the health department has decided to increase testing across the state, starting with a targeted increase of 500 to 1000 tests in Bengaluru.
The subsequent plan involves conducting 5000 Covid tests after a week.
