Hassan/Channarayapatna: In a shocking incident, a girl was reportedly forced into house arrest for four months, following the advice of a fake astrologer.
This occurred after she complained of back pain, which later escalated into cancer.
The incident, which came to light on Thursday, took place in the Madehalli village near Channarayapatna in the Hassan District.
According to a report by Digital Magazine Kamadhenu, 22-year-old Mamtashree, who also holds a degree, had complained of back pain for which she was only given a few medicines.
However, the pain did not subside, leading the victim's brother, Prashanth, to hire Abdul. Abdul was later revealed to be a fake astrologer.
Abdul advised Mamtashree to consume only 'turmeric water' and 'lemon water.'
The report also stated that the 22-yearold was not given any food and was told not to step out of the house at any cost. This deteriorated her condition, and it was later discovered that Mamtashree was diagnosed with cancer after a visit to the hospital, the report added.
This is where the situation in the family took an extreme turn. Prashanth insisted on following the astrologer's advice, even after his sister developed a swollen abdomen and experienced extreme pain.
This led to a rift between the siblings, and Mamtashree cried for help. Upon learning this, officials from the Women and Child Department rushed to the spot and safely removed Mamtashree.
Her family also realized their costly mistake of hiring Abdul, and the report mentioned that he was beaten up with a broomstick. This incident sheds light on the grave consequences of medical negligence.
