Nandi Hills, Siddara Betta closed for tourists on New Year's Eve

Bengaluru: There is a disappointment in store for New Year revellers who were planning a trip to the famed Nandi Hills in the outskirts of Bengaluru.

The popular tourist spot and Siddara Betta, also on the city outskirts, will be out of bounds for tourists during the NY phase. Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Mallikarjuna Baldandi has prohibited the entry of tourists from 6 pm on December 31 till 6 am on January 2.

This move effectively halts public access to the tourist spots and restricts any parties or picnics being organised in the area.

The Chikkaballapura District Collector had recently issued an order prohibiting tourists entry at these places in order to avoid any untoward incident during the New Year celebrations.

Furthermore, all bookings for accommodation at Nandigiri Dham on December 31st have been cancelled.

To bolster security measures, authorities have directed the police to enforce vigil around Nandigiri Dham.
