BDA issues notices to illegal buildings in Whitefield

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Development Authority on Thursday had issued notices to builders trying to build a layout without an approval in the Pattandur Agrahara Lake area.

The area, which has seen illegal roads being closed in 2021, has seen builders creeping into the buffer zone.

Activists have lashed out against owners over this act, prompting Engineers from the East Division of the BDA to act on the same.

Convenor of Namma Whitefield Sandeep Aniruddhan alleged that the earthwork for Underground pipes and felling of trees was observed since December last year.

“As we know, construction of an illegal road in the buffer zone was stopped. This time, constructors were seen cutting trees and laying pipes, clearly without any permission from the authorities.”

He also added that the roads to this layout were planned, at the pretext of the Muneshwara Temple behind the lake.

Mohan Kumar, Executive Engineer of the East Division had confirmed that the layout was constructed on illegal grounds.

“We have visited the spot and have stopped construction. The builders are under notice, and will be severely punished if works are resumed,” he said.

However, Kumar refused to reveal the details of the land being encroached to News Trail.
