Caste census to be submitted by Jan 20?

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: It is being rumoured that the caste census otherwise known as the Kantharaju Commission report is likely to be submitted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah by January 20.

K Jayaprakash Hegde’s term as Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes (KSCBC) chair man had been extended until January 31 for this very purpose.

The CM is likely to accept the report, the formalities for which are undergoing finishing touches.

The commission was constituted in April 2015 during Siddaramaiah’s first term under Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes (KSCBC) Chairperson H Kantharaj for Rs 162 crore.

However, once the Backward Classes (BC) Kuruba leader lost power in 2018, the report was put aside.
