Bengaluru: Four youths were arrested by the police following an investigation into the brutal murder of a rowdy sheeter in the city.

Satish, 30, a resident of Maya Bazar in Bengaluru, was brutally hacked to death in front of his wife and children when a group of youth, armed with machetes, barged into his house around 3:30 am on Wednesday.

According to Vivek Nagar police, Satish's wife and children were asleep inside the room while Satish himself was sleeping in the hall.

As he was being attacked, Satish screamed for help after which his family woke up and helplessly witnessed the attack.

Until the neighbours rushed to their help, the gang had already fled the scene leaving a fatally injured Satish on the brink of death. Following a complaint by Satish’s wife, the police sprung into action and nabbed four youths identified as Prashanth, Danush, Kamlet and Sunil.

The police said all the accused are aged between 18 and 20 years and were local residents of Vivek Nagar here.

While this is not an isolated incident where young boys are being arrested for a brutal murder, it is a matter of concern that in the last few years Bengaluru often gets shaken up by crimes committed 'not' by seasoned criminals, but by teenagers and sometimes even by a minor.

Motive behind the murder

The police said that the murder was committed due to a personal grudge between the group and the deceased.

According to the investigation, Satish and the four accused had visited a local bar on Monday night where Satish had allegedly mocked and abused one of them.

The boys got so furious that they plotted to fatally attack him in order to seek revenge.

Speaking to News Trail, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Division, Shekar H Tekkanavar, said that Satish was a rowdy sheeter and several cases were registered against him.

The accused boys who murdered Satish were also involved in other crimes.

Youths taking to crime, a matter of concern

Recently, three youths, who wanted to host a lavish New Year party in Goa resorted to extortion and abducted two men in the city.

The trio demanded Rs 4 lakh from one of the victims’ family, but instead of releasing, killed him. However another victim managed to escape from them and alerted the police following which the trio were arrested.
