Bengaluru: In a letter addressed to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the Secretary of the Associated Managements of Primary & Secondary Schools in Karnataka D Shashi Kumar highlighted the escalating issue of daily accidents and student fatalities due to the unauthorised use of vehicles and demanding immediate action towards it.

Emphasising the urgent need to directly enforce and educate parents on their responsibilities in the context of negligence in both 2-wheelers and 4-wheelers, without adherence to regulations has resulted in a concerning surge in accidents and fatalities in Bengaluru.

In the letter, Shashi Kumar stated that, tragically, numerous students have lost their lives, and there is an increasing occurrence of injuries and fatalities involving limbs and other body parts.

It further mentioned the lack of concrete information on the consequences of such incidents and children's inclination towards such activities indicates a significant gap in awareness.

Law enforcement agencies, education departments, and established guidelines have not specifically addressed this matter. Parents, in an attempt to meet their children's demands, provide vehicles, and the instances of theft and unauthorised use are increasing.

The noticeable lack of attention and negligence by parents and guardians is evident.

The government is urged to take immediate legal action, educate parents about their responsibilities, and impose fines and penalties for violations.

Prompt government action is requested to regulate vehicle use in alignment with awareness and orders.
