K Sudhakar lays claim to BJP ticket for Chikkaballapura

Chikkaballapura, NT Bureau: Former minister and BJP leader K Sudhakar suggested that alliance partner JD(S) had given him the go-ahead to contest from the Chikkaballapura Lok Sabha constituency later this year.

He made the comments in a party programme in Chikkaballapura district on Monday.

BJP’s BN Bachegowda is the sitting MP from Chikkaballapura. He had famously defeated Congress bigwig and former chief minister Veerappa Moily in the 2019 general elections.

Moreover, alliance partner JD(S) retains a presence in Chikkaballapura district and is eying the constituency in a seat sharing arrangement.

“JD(S) leaders including former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy have in a way given me a green light. They told me to go ahead and start work,” Sudhakar said, to applause from party workers.
