Bengaluru: In a recent meeting convened by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Snehal, the officer in charge of the eastern region, advocated for increased public awareness regarding the administration of polio drops to children in urban areas.

The meeting, held at the PY Building's 10th-floor auditorium in the eastern region, focused on discussions related to the polio vaccination program.

Snehal underscored the importance of actively promoting the initiative and recommended measures to effectively reach children under the age of five.

The program, scheduled from March 3 to March 6, targeted the administration of polio drops in east Bengaluru.

The emphasis was placed on specific areas, including the Koragere settlement, regions with high population density, construction sites, railway stations, bus stops, schools, health centres, and childcare facilities.

The goal was to ensure comprehensive coverage within the targeted age group.

To enhance awareness, the use of speaker devices mounted on auto tippers, which routinely collect donations door-to-door to disseminate information about the polio program on a daily basis has been proposed.

The meeting witnessed the participation of key officials such as Pallavi, the district commissioner, Savita, the district health officer, and representatives from various departments, including PHANA and KRAID, serving as regional commissioners.
