Bengaluru: All India Democratic Students Organisation on Thursday condemned the newly appointed University of Vishweshwaraiah College Of Engineering (UVCE) Director Dr Manjunath for allegedly making “elitist” demands after getting the job.

Some media reports accused Manjunath of demanding a membership in the elite Century Club, business class flights, a house maid and personal gadgets as a part of his job.

AIDSO Bengaluru District committee “strongly opposed” these demands. “AIDSO questions the attitude of the Director of an educational institution and the authorities who instead of expressing anguish at such demands, have decided to accept them!” an AIDSO statement said.

“AIDSO condemns the atrocious requirements made by Dr Manjunath, Director, UVCE. It also appeals to the authorities to safeguard the interest of the college and not turn into an industry or a corporate body! Let UVCE remain a beacon of hope for poor and meritorious students of Karnataka!” the statement added.
