Ramanagara: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar invited BJP and JD(S) party workers, especially those from Raman- a g a r a district, to join the Congress party.
He made the comments before mediapersons after a convention of guarantee scheme beneficiaries in Channapatna town in Ramanagara district on Saturday.
“The BJP and JD(S) leaders are pretending to be embracing each other for political gains but the party workers don’t grow younger by the day. Be wise and join the Congress party. The Congress party will be in power in the state for the next 10 years, you have to make the right choices,” Shivakumar said.
“The alliance between the JD(S) and the BJP is not going to work. The earlier their party workers realise, the better it is for them. Everyone will prosper if those party workers join their hands with us,” he said.
The comments come months ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Ramanagara district is a part of Bengaluru Rural Lok Sabha, which is held by Shivakumar’s brother DK Suresh.
“DK Suresh is not new to the constituency. He works very closely with every gram panchayat in the constituency. When Anita Kumaraswamy contested, BJP had supported her candidature. In spite of that, DK Suresh won by a margin of 1.20 lakh votes. He will do well irrespective of who contests the elections from BJPJD(S),” Shivakumar said.
“Kumaraswamy is not talking about JD(S) but he is only talking about BJP. He is speaking like a spokesperson of the BJP. HD Deve Gowda had said that he would leave the country if Modi became the Prime minister but today they are embracing the BJP,” he added.
As many as four former BJP and JD(S) leaders from Channapatna Assembly had joined the Congress Sunday.
Among the inductees were ex-BJP leader Malave Gowda, former MLA Ashwath, Raghunandan Ramanna and Duntur Vishwanath, apart from scores of their supporters.
