Bengaluru: The City witnessed 90 fatal accidents in 2024, the Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, MN Anucheth said on Tuesday.

Addressing a road safety campaign organised by the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) in the city, MN Anucheth spoke about road safety and managing Bengaluru's traffic challenges with a tech-driven and collaborative approach.

"We are currently working on implementing advanced technologies such as AI, Big Data and IOT based solutions to optimise the traffic flow and reduce the congestion," Anucheth said.

Highlighting the measures taken up by the traffic police to categorize the traffic flow into moderate, high, and severe, he said that the BTP will promptly respond to the situation.

"Certain junctions like Hebbal, witness severe congestion consistently; for instance, Hebbal witnesses a staggering 90,000 vehicles passing through in a threehour window from 9 am to 12 noon, likely one of the highest globally. Leveraging our advancements, we can now disseminate real-time road conditions via mapbased services, FM radio, and social media platforms to mitigate traffic congesion," he said.
