Bengaluru: With an aim to enhance the security around sensitive government buildings in the city, the Karnataka government has set up an integrated hi-tech security and surveillance visitors' monitoring system for the Vidhana Soudha, Vikasa Soudha and the High Court here.

The state government has provided 14 baggage scanner machines out of which five machines would be installed in Vidhana Soudha, while six machines would be installed in the High Court premises as per the orders.

As a test, one of the scanners had been installed at the office of the Bengaluru Police Commissioner earlier, an official told News Trail.

The state government has ordered the remaining two machines to be installed at Raj Bhavan and Legislators’ Home in Bengaluru.

According to an official, the machines that had been installed earlier had been "under repair" for sometime and often required repairs. The personnel had to manually check the baggage of the visitors.

The newly installed scanners ensure that no dangerous items enter the premises, the official said, adding that an effort is on to bring in two more such scanners for other offices in the city.
