State government trying to continue 4 year degrees, says student organisation

Bengaluru: All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) alleged that the State government was looking to continue the four-year undergraduate degree for at least another year and demanded that the same be withdrawn.
AIDSO State Secretary Ajay Kamath claimed that students had gotten a message suggesting that the four-year degree course under the National Education Policy (NEP) would be continued.
The ruling Congress had promised in its manifesto last year that they would do away with the NEP.
They even formed a State Education Policy (SEP) panel to implement a fresh policy after they came to power in May last year.
“AIDSO demands that the State government should not mess with the future of students like this and withdraw the 4-year degree immediately. Otherwise, the AIDSO State Committee would like to warn the the Government that a massive student movement will break out against the imposition of four year degree,” he added.
