Bengaluru: An employee of a cash management service firm allegedly escaped with Rs 2.57 crore in cash after collecting the amount from a customer in the city.
According to the complaint, the accused identified as Suman was an employee of Hitachi Cash Management Services which provides cash handling and manages inter-city cash movements.
Two more staff including an assistant, Bolanath Das and a van driver, Fazal Hussain, had been deployed for cash handling on route number DLR-15 along with Suman.
It was learnt that on March 25, Suman allegedly took Rs 2.57 crore in cash that the team had collected from a customer in the city, after informing the management that he will deposit the cash into Federal Bank on St Marks Road.
In order to avoid his colleagues from assisting him, Suman allegedly called them over the phone and claimed that one of his relatives had died and he will be going to his house directly from the bank.
However when Das and Hussain reached their office, they were shocked to find that the cash had not been deposited into the bank and Suman had switched off his mobile phone.
The firm owner Mallikarjuna has filed a complaint against the accused at Cubbon Park Police Station. An effort is on to trace his whereabouts.
