Sitharaman, CM get into spat over water crisis

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman blamed the Congress State government for water scarcity and some cases of cholera in Karnataka.

She made the comments at a press conference in the BJP office in Bengaluru on Saturday.

She also alleged that the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah administration had halted many irrigation and drinking water related schemes after coming to power. Siddaramaiah hit back at Sitharaman, alleging that her claims were not factual.

“The Central government seems to have no regard for Karnataka. Having failed to take timely action to conduct the HLC (High Level Committee) meeting and decide on our NDRF (National Disaster Relief Fund) claims, they are deploying Central Ministers to come to Bengaluru and give statements based either on halftruths or blatant lies and they think people can be confused,” Siddaramaiah said.
