Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) DK Shivakumar took a jibe at the state BJP President BY Vijayendra and said that the guarantees will continue to benefit the people in Karnataka as Congress will win more than 20 seats.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, DKS alleged that the BJP has been targeting him and his party as it fears losing the elections.

Upon being asked by one of the reporters about why the people in Karnataka should choose Congress, DK Shivakumar responded by saying, "Remember what BJP did when the double engine government held the power in the state.

They formed the government after introducing 'Operation Kamal,' but did they fulfill the promises they had made?" he said.

The DCM further claimed that the BJP government at the centre failed to provide clearance to the Mahadayi water project which is a huge injustice to the people here.

DK urged the people to vote for candidates who could speak in Parliament and fight for the State’s cause.

"The BJP failed to keep its promise on bringing back the black money from Swiss banks and depositing Rs 15 lakh in poor people's accounts. They could not generate 2 crore job opportunities for the youths and did not do anything to control the inflation. Now, they are sending Income Tax (IT) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials to raid private companies and opposition political parties," he alleged.

Responding to a question on Caste Census, DK said that he does not believe in the sample survey report.

"Instead a door-to-door survey should be conducted and that is what I have been demanding," he said.

About the recent allegations leveled by the JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda against him of orchestrating the kidnapping of a 9-year-old girl in order to secure the transfer of her father’s property, Shivakumar said, "I don't like to comment on these cheap allegations. Let them come out with proof. If I have made a mistake I will definitely bow my head," DK said.
