Police in a fix: Girl stabbed to death while her mother suffers cut injuries

Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old girl was found dead while her mother suffered severe stab injuries at their house in Banashankari Police Station limits on Monday evening.
The deceased girl was identified as Sahithi, a student who had recently completed her PUC.
She used to live with her mother, Padmaja, 60, after she lost her father a few years ago, the police said.
It is alleged that Padmaja and Sahithi often engaged in heated arguments over trivial matters.
Around 7 pm on Monday, the mother-daughter allegedly argued over Sahithi’s performance in her academics which enraged her.
Prima facie it is suspected that Sahithi attacked her mother with a knife during which Padmaja also picked up a knife and stabbed her daughter.
Sahithi died of excess bleeding while Padmaja was rescued by her neighbours who shifted her to a hospital immediately. The neighbours alerted the jurisdictional police regarding the matter.
The Banashankari police said that so far it has not been ascertained whether Padmaja had killed her daughter over an argument.
The case is still under investigation and we are looking at all angles. We are also probing to see if anyone had entered their house and attacked both women, a senior official said.
