Youth arrested under POCSO Act

Bengaluru: A 17-year-old labourer and his associate were booked by the Kadugodi Police on Monday under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, for allegedly sexually abusing a eight-year-old girl in the city.

According to the police, a case alleging sexual assault on a minor girl was registered on April 24, following which the duo were arrested.

The victim used to stay with her family in Kadugodi where the accused also lived nearby.

The duo had lured the victim offering to buy her chocolates and toys, and took her to their house and sexually abused her.

The incident took place when the victim was alone as her parents had gone to work, the police said.

Hearing the girl's screams, neighbours rushed to her help and thrashed the duo before alerting the police.

However by the time the police reached the spot, the accused had managed to escape. T

he Bengaluru Police tracked down one of the accused on Monday and are on the lookout for the other who is still on the run.

A few days back, a 54-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl near Magrath Road in Bengaluru.
